Well, there's one open question here.

Why should they? Except for filling the coffers of existing shareholders I see no redeeming value in stock buybacks, and even less in taking on debt for doing so.

Came here via Steven's video today... Fantastic analysis Alexandra! It wasn't the common "read an article and give my thoughts", it was much deeper. I'm smarter today because of this. Thanks!

This is well written and I agree, but IMHO not now, not with the macro risks, Tesla is going to need as much cash (and little debt as poss) if things continue to escalate. As such, I made a video to explain my thoughts. Again, great article but for me (as an all-in Tesla investor), not now, in the future: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBm6wpaP4q4

Thank you Ashley, watched your video. My view is less pessimistic and I think this is a perfect moment for an opportunistic share buyback. But we can agree to disagree.

Super article Alexandra! Your ability to educate and inform in a way so someone like myself without a finance background can understand is greatly appreciated. I’ve been following you, Gary and Ross for sometime (Twitter & YouTube) and I’m very grateful for your insights into Tesla’s business operations, the current macroeconomic conditions and Elon’s pursuit of Twitter and how the interplay of each affects TSLA.

I agree on this analysis. But, perhaps, what is holding Tesla from this action is the international situation at the moment. It's hard to be 100% confident about anything while the nuclear war threat is still on the table. Also, in general, the FED is hurting stock like never before. Perhaps until good news give some breath to the market, the buyback will remain in the air?

Thank you for your work on Tesla ratings. Well let us hope we don't see these prices again. IF Tesla has enough cash to build the factories needed, a share buyback would be nice.

OK, now we need to attack ESG.

Thank you Steve. And yes, ESG is on the list. A much steeper hill, but we need to get that done as well.
